Charles Dickens' writing room...

Item # 173476

January 07, 1871

HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, January 7, 1871  The front page is "Any Thing But a Happy New-Year".  Inside the issue is a 3/4 page illustration of "Joseph Garibaldi"; a 1/4 page "The City of Evreux, Normandy, France"; a very nice doublepage centerfold "The Room In Which Charles Dickens Wrote" which includes an article on it as well; a slightly larger than halfpage "A Dogs' Dinner-Party in Paris"; a 3/4 page "Home Treasures"; a Thomas Nast political cartoon is on the back page.
Other news and advertisements of the day are included. This issue is complete in 16 pages and is in good condition.
Note: This is the first issue of the year. Please know the first and last issues from yearly bound volumes, even when classified as 1st-rate, show a little more wear than typical.

Please Read Note Concerning HW Images & Supplements!

Note: Most authentic Harper's Weekly issues come from bound volumes, and those dated in January and December often have more wear-and-tear than those from February through November - especially the first and last issues of each year. This reality is reflected in the price shown.
