HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, February 8, 1862  The full front page is a print titled: "The alarmed Picket-guard." which has a caption: "The Picket of the Tenth Indiana Regiment Discovering the Approach of the Rebels at Mill Spring, Kentucky."
Inside has a half pg: "View Of Ship Island, Louisiana"; quarter-page prints of: "Hon. Edwin M. Stanton, Secretary of War" and "The Rebel General Zollicoffer, Killed at the Battle of Somerset" with biographies of both. Also a full page with 4 prints of: "The Two Bombardments of Fort Pickens"; a full page: "Map of Kentucky, with a Portion of Tennessee..." and a full page: "Topographical Map Showing Mill Spring, Pulaski County, Kentucky, the Scene of the Recent Battle & Defeat of the Forces of the Rebel General Zollicoffer."; A half page: "Winter-quarters of the 14th Massachusetts Volunteers--Garrison of Forts Albany & Runyon"; and a halfpg: "Cavalry Charge In Virginia"; a full page: "The 'Cold Snap' In 1862--Ice in the East River".
The doublepage centerfold is a very dramatic print of: "The Battle of Somerset, or Mill Spring, Kentucky, January 19, 1862". The back page has two political cartoons.
Complete in 16 pages, nice condition.
