THE POST BOY, London, England, 1711-1719  This newspaper ranks among the more displayable titles from the eighteenth century, and is very early as well. The masthead features two engravings in the corners, one of a mounted newsboy trumpeting the news, and the other of an angelic figure doing the same.

LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED WEEKLY, New York, Feb. 10, 1910  A very nice and displayable color cover captioned: "Valentine Number" obviously celebrating Valentine's Day. A great issue for display. The back cover is nice as well, being a color ad for "Perrier" sparking water  (see).
Complete in 24 pages and in excellent condition.

HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, March 8, 1884  For a political junkie--and a Republican--this could be the best Harper's Weekly for display as the entire front page print is captioned: "The Sacred Elephant. This Animal Is Sure To Win, If It Is Only Kept Pure And Clean, And Has Not Too Heavy A Load To Carry." This drawing is by Thomas Nast who created both the Republican elephant and the Democratic donkey. Included within the drawing is a small rendition of Thomas Nast himself.

The prime feature would be: "Bartholdi's Colossal Statue of Liberty" which shows the head on display in Paris. Included is a related article noting the final size would be 105 feet high plus an 82 feet pedestal. The bust itself was 29 1/2 feet high and 13+ feet in diameter.
The Statue of Liberty would not be formally dedicated on Bedloe's Island in New York harbor until 1886.

DROVERS JOURNAL SUPPLEMENT, Union Stock Yards, Chicago, Illinois, June 17, 1880, A folio-size single sheet with "Stock Yard" news and many advertisements. Small tears are mended with archival tape, otherwise generally good. Very displayable.

NEW YORK JOURNAL, April 25, 1898  The entire front page is taken up with a wealth of headlines and subheads on the Spanish-American War, plus a nice graphic  captioned: "How The Patrol Fleet Will Protect New York Harbor".
The prime headline is a banner: "DETROIT SEIZES BIG STEAMER AFTER HAVING HER UNDER FIRE".
Present are the outer leaves of the first (of two) section with pages 1, 2, 7 & 8. But it's the displayable front page that holds the value. Very nice condition.

HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, December 30, 1865  This issue features a great doublepage centerfold done by famed artist Thomas Nast, titled: "Merry Christmas To All", showing 8 vignettes of a Christmas theme with the central focus being a great portrait of Santa Claus with a pipe in hand.
This is one of the better and more famous Nast Santa Claus prints and is very displayable.

ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS, London, December 18, 1896  This is a single leaf "Extra-Supplement" only, a color print of: "Two Little Doves, From a Painting by B. Hall". A nice item for display in very nice condition. Measures 11 by 15 1/2 inches.

From the GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, March, 1771  The print is of "A Design for a BRIDGE over Yarmouth Haven Drawn by Mr. Samuel Bream". This is the print only, not the complete magazine, which would very nice framed. See photo for details.

This is noted as the: "Mid-Summer Number", and as the title suggests the theme is primarily sports-related (camping, horse shows, horse racing, motorboat racing, etc.) although there is other content as well. The ftpg. is a photo of: "Camping Along the Hudson".

Complete in 24 pages very light wear, never bound nor trimmed, nice condition.
