THE NEW YORK HERALD, New York, April 1, 1842 Page two of the issue contains a lenghty letter datelined Bastrof, March 10th, 1842 which is reporting on the conditions between the Mexicans and Texas, with the reporting of the Mexican Calvary of 800 and the Texans of 75. Other news, advertisements, some of which are illustrated, are within the issue. This is complete in four pages and is in very nice condition.

The very famous James Gordon Bennett newspaper the "New York Herald" also published a weekly edition, summarizing the various news events from the previous week. The issue featured an engraving on the front page, and this being from the critical period of the Mexican War, war content is found on the inside pages.
Complete as an 8 pages newspaper, scattered foxing, generally nice condition.

NEW YORK HERALD -- EXTRA, Oct. 22, 1841 An uncommon single sheet issue with a much different masthead, which includes: "Arrival Of The Columbia At Boston. Sixteen Days Later From Europe." Obviously this was a separate printing containing news from Europe as received from the ship Columbia. But this news takes less than 1 1/2 columns of the front page, the balance of the issue is taken up with ads.

NEW YORK HERALD, March 5, 1847 Page 3 has a column with a nice stack of heads on the Mexican War: "To The Latest Moments" "Highly Important From Mexico" "Later From the Army" "The Whole Command Moving To Vera Cruz" "Movements of the Mexicans" 'Renewal of Hostilities in the Neighborhood of Saltillo" "Santa Anna Will Probably to at the Storming of Vera Cruz".
