NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Jan. 28, 1858 The top of the front page has: "Later From the Utah Expedition" which includes: "...there is an immense movement of the Mormon population of California toward the valley of Salt Lake. At San Bernardino the Mormons were selling their farms, mills...at great sacrifices...The Mormons see a possibility of our troops forcing a passage though the valley should be besieged on every side..." with much more (see).
