THE NEW YORK HERALD, October 2, 1865 Under the "Amusements" on page 7 is a "Card From Laura Keene" which was sent to J. S. Clarke, Leasee of Winter Garden, for his infringement of the using of the play "Our American Cousin" for which they had already been previously to court about and she had won the rights to. Laura Keene was the first producer and star of "Our American Cousin", the play that Abraham Lincoln was watching when he was shot. She also cradled the President's head in her lap.
The front page carries reports on "The Fenian Movement" with the back page reporting "Elections Today".
