THE CHARLESTON DAILY COURIER, South Carolina, April 29, 1861
* Confederate title from the origin of the Civil War
* Near the beginning - post Fort Sumter attack
This was one of just a few newspapers which printed in its dateline: "Confederate States Of America" (see). There is a wealth of war-related material on the front page including: "Fifth Regiment of South Carolina Volunteers" "The Prisoner in Richmond" 'The Naval Academy Disbanded" "Correspondence of the Courier" having a large number of reports; "City Intelligence" "News from the North" "Arrival of Troops at Annapolis Junction..." and so much more.
Page 2 has a number of small war-related items plus many ads as well, while page 3 is entirely taken up with ads.
Complete as a 4 page newspaper of large folio size, some light water staining otherwise rather good condition. A nice issue from where the Civil War began, and from just two weeks after.
