SUPPLEMENT TO THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, England, 1750 A very nice pre-Revolutionary War magazine from the "mother country". This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907. This "Supplement" issue was done at the end of the year.
The first article is the continuation of the: "History of the Crusades" with related subheads including "Jerusalem Retaken--Crusade against the Pagans".
Other articles include: "Lunar Observations", "Amendment Proposed in Law Proceedings", "Dimensions of St. Peter's and St. Paul's", "Descent of the Holy Ghost, How", "Solution of a Query on the Creed", "Of Westminster Bridge", "Walton Bridge Described" and the descriptions of various gates into the city of London, a related plate called for in the December issue.
Near the back is an issue on cleaning the stomach, with a quarter-page print of: "A Brush to Cleanse the Stomach" (see).
Complete in 24 pgs. They did not use a full title/index page with the Supplements as was done with the monthly issues. Measures about 5 1/4 by 8 1/2 inches, in nice condition.
