February 25, 1842
EMANCIPATOR AND FREE AMERICAN, Boston, Massachusetts, February 25, 1842
* Rare anti-slavery title
* Pre Civil war slave trade
As the title would suggest, this is a newspaper focused on the anti-slavery movement although the content in this issue would seem to be mostly political. The ftpg. includes: "Church Action--Resolutions Passed by the First Baptist Church in Cambridge" "Mr. Adams' Defence" "Editorial Correspondence" and other items. Pages 2 & 3 have various reports including items headed "Texas" and "The Statue of Washington", with page 2 having an illustrated ad supporting "James G. Birney, For President" on the Liberty Ticket, which includes an engraving of "The Cedar of Lebanon" (see). The bkpg. includes a letter signed in type by: John G. Whittier.
Four pages, nice condition.
