EVENING PRESS, Island of Guernsey, Dec. 8, 1941
* Rare Nazi occupation issue
* Bombing of Pearl Harbor
* U.S. & Japan at war
A very curious issue, as Guernsey, an English-speaking island, was occupied by the Germans during WWII so all the news was pro-Nazi. This issue is from the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor and the report is very interesting. The brief message blames the attack upon the United States, with: "The continual warmongering machinations of President Roosevelt during the recent weeks have resulted in the outbreak of hostilities between Japan and the United States, the first action taking place in East Asia on Sunday." (see)
Other pro-Nazi reporting on the ftpg. includes: "Expelled Jews, Expelled Further" includes: "A spokesman of the Japanese Navy declared that all undesirable Jewish emigrants would be expelled...owing to the bad behaviour of Jewish emigrants...Asked what would happen to them the spokesman replied that it was not a matter which concerned the Japanese authorities to provide shelter for undesirable or expelled Jews." Also: "British Cruiser Sunk" "The Two Pacts" and more.
Four pages, minor archival mend near the spine, nice condition.
