March 23, 1775
THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Mar. 23, 1775  The entire front page is taken up with the continuation of a speech concerning "...an engrossed Bill...for restraining the Commerce & prohibiting the Fishery of the four New England Provinces & their dependencies on the Banks of Newfoundland". An inside page has a nice article beginning: "Patriots have generally been held out as lovers of their country..." and which ends with: "If freedom from taxation should take place in the manner desired by the Americans, and the supremacy of Great Britain is considered as merely ideal, this country will long have reason to lament our blood lavished, and treasure wasted, on colonization." with much in between (see photos). The bkpg. has a summary with comments on Edmund Burke's Speech on Conciliation with the Colonies, which includes...  "...the colonies are not represented in any shape in parliament, & therefore cannot be taxed by it; on which grounds a motion follows for repealing all the acts that have been passed against the colonies since the first dispute with them about the stamp act..." with more (see photos).  An insid page also mentions the speech - with some details (see images).  Complete in 8 pages, very nice condition.
