The ftpg. has a report, carrying over to page 2, which includes: "Lord Cornwallis...that several of the prisoners taken in arms against the British forces had pardons in their pockets, signed by the Commander in Chief, exonerating them from any punishment for their past offenses on condition of their taking the oath of allegiance to their lawful Sovereign, the King of Great Britain...His Lordship, however...ordered several of them to be hanged up at head quarters." Additional war-related reports carry over to take most of a column on page 2.
One of the inside pages is entirely taken up with reports from America relating to the Battle of Camden, S.C.,, including a copy of "General Gates's Orders" datelined at Camp at Rugeley's. Other reports are datelined Charleston, and also: "Lord Cornwallis's Orders" datelined from Camden, S.C. being his comments on the victory in the Battle of Camden, prefaced with: "The following orders of the Right Honourable Lieut. General Earl Cornwallis after the glorious victory obtained...over the rebel army on the 16th..." (see).
The following page has additional reports concerning the Revolutionary War and the battle of Camden, including correspondence between Gates & Cornwallis closing with: "...I will advance as long as my brave fellows can march--the morning shall light us to victory or death." (see). Also: "Major General de Kalbe, of the American troops, lately killed in the action near Camden..." and a bit more.
Another item has a rare mention of naval hero John Paul Jones: "Captain Paul Jones has not, as was assured, the command of the five ships; he is still in the road of l'Orient, on board of a small frigate of 20 guns; it is said he is disposed to return very soon to America."
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, rubbing to the ftpg. causes two small holes which affect about 6 words. Otherwise in nice condition.
