October 25, 1774
THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, October 25, 1774 Most of the front page is a fascinating review of a new work recently published, titled: "American Independence, the Interest and Glory of Great Britain: or, Arguments to prove that not only in Taxation but in Trade, Manufactures, and Government, the Colonies are entitled to an entire Independency on the British Legislature". There is some ink off-setting in the first column but causing no loss of readability. See photos for the full text.
Inside has a letter from Boston which notes: "New England holds out most obstinately, notwithstanding hundreds are already ruined & thousands half starved; some of the clergy are continually in their sermons stirring up the people in resistance...." and ending with: "...We impatiently wait for the result of the Congress, which is to be held this day at Philadelphia, as their proceedings must determine our measures." (see images)
Eight pages, red ink tax stamp on page two, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, very nice condition.
