THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, August 23, 1774  Page 3 has some: "...accounts of the proceedings at different places in America." which include in part: "...counties of...Maryland...voted several of the Boston Port Bill...Entering into a non-importation & non-exportation agreement to & from Great Britain...till the said  Bill shall be repealed...opening a subscription for the relief of the inhabitants of Boston; Appointing deputies to correspond with Virginia & Pennsylvania...to obtain a meeting or general congress to propose the 20th of September next, and the city of Philadelphia, as the most convenient time & place for such congress; and breaking off all trade & dealing with that colony...which shall decline or refuse to come into the general plan which may be adopted by the colonies..." with more. What follows are similar reports from Newport and Charleston (see photos).
Another page has more news from America including: "...from New Bern, North Carolina, that a large mob...upwards of 3200 of their best picked men, all well equipped fit for battle..to demand the reason why they were so much oppressed by having taxes imposed on them...It is feared much blood will be shed if something is not settled on a firm basis...letter from Boston assures us that upwards of 300 troops are deserted from those that are encamped on the commons...that others are deserting every day..." with more (see).
The bkpg. has more American content, bits reading like a call to arms (see).
