THE LONDON MAGAZINE, England, September, 1757

* Saxony Germany & Cadiz Spain foldout maps
* French and Indian War era original

This early magazine is formatted almost identical to the more popular "Gentleman's Magazine" but is considerably more rare today.

Perhaps the prime features of this issue are the two nice maps. One is a foldout titled: "A Map of the Northern Part of UPPER SAXONY" which includes from present-day Berlin north to the Baltic Sea and east to portions of present-day Poland (see). This map measures 8 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches, has some off-setting from being folded within itself for over 150 years but is otherwise quite nice.

The other is a full page: "Plan of the Bay and Roads of CADIZ..." which is a port city in Southwestern Spain (see). There is a related article on the city as well.

Near the back is the "Monthly Chronologer" which has a report on the French & Indian War, being an: "Extract of a Letter from a Gentleman at Fort William Henry, to his "Friend at New York, July 26, 1757" which relates an ill-fated attempt upon Ticonderoga (see), taking over half the page.

Complete in 48 pages with a full title/contents page which has a nice engraving of the London skyline (see).  Measures 5 1/4 by 8 1/2 inches, great condition.
