THE WAR, New York, March 8, 1814  This is a very interesting newspaper as it existed for one purpose: to report the news from the War of 1812. It began publication shortly after the war began, & ceased to publish once the war was over.
The entire front page is taken up with "Documents" being "Correspondence between the Secretary of War and Major-General Dearborn" which includes five letters each signed in type: H. Dearborn with datelines from Niagara and Fort George. These letters contain a great amount of war-related content (see for portions).
The reports concerning Henry Dearborn carry over to take all of page 2 & a bit on pg. 3 with the balance of page 3 containing: "Rodgers' Cruise" being a lengthy letter signed by him in type: John Rodgers, as well as a column on: "Military Movements". Even more war reporting on the back page
Four pages, measures about 9 1/4 by 11 1/2 inches,very nice condition.
