October 02, 1769
THE NEW-YORK GAZETTE AND WEEKLY MERCURY, October 2, 1769

* Very rare colonial issue
* Nice masthead engraving

The masthead features a very nice engraving of the New York coat-of-arms, which includes two Indians.

Most of the ftpg. is taken up with various messages from the South Carolina Assembly concerning the housing of British troops, one signed in type: Thomas Gage. Pages 2 & 3 have various news of the day including "A Proclamation" by the Lt. Governor of New York concerning the postponement of the General Assembly (see). The bkpg. is taken up with ads and a few notices.

Complete in 4 pages, various foxing throughout, loss to a small piece from the bottom right corner of the front leaf & a slightly larger piece to the back leaf affects mostly ads.
