THE NEW YORK HERALD, from New York, dated January 28, 1861
* Abraham Lincoln leaves home for the White House
* Has no escort nor office seekers
On page 5 under "Mr. Lincoln's Departure For Washington" is a report datelined "Springfield, Jan. 27, 1861" that says:
* It is now positively settled that Mr. Lincoln will depart for Washington on the 11th of February.....
