Page 3 has a historic report datelined "Washington, Oct. 21" stating that the Senate approved and ratified the Louisiana Treaty. The Senate ratified the treaty, more commonly known as the Louisiana Purchase, on October 20. The report reads, in full: "Yesterday at about 5 o'clock P.M. The Senate ratified the LOUISIANA TREATY; 24 in the affirmative, and 7 in the negative; there were 8 federal Senators present; but Mr. Dayton, we understand, voted in the affirmative"
