November 12, 1774
THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, November 12, 1774

* Rare Paul Revere reporting as a post rider
* Pre revolutionary war tensions
* From the enemy

The front page has a report headed: "News From America" which begins: "Last night all the cannon in the north battery were spiked up. It is said to be done by an hundred men..." with more, including a proclamation made by General Gage which is signed by him in type on page 2: Thomas Gage (see).

Most of page 2 is taken up with various reports concerning America, including a very rare item from New York which states: "By accounts brought by Mr. Paul Revere, who passed yesterday morning through this city express to the congress at Philadelphia, we are informed that the 200 artificers employed on the barracks had left off working, occasioned by remonstrances of their friends in the city and the country."  No one could have imagined that less than 5 months later he name would be recorded in history books forever.

Rare and desirable mention of Paul Revere as a post rider!

Page 2 also has an item: "The vessel in which Dr. Benjamin Franklin had taken his passage for Philadelphia is arrived..." with more (see).

There are other pre-war news items as well which mention Dr. Joseph Warren, John Hancock, Sam Adams among others (see).

Measures 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 in, 8 pgs., terrific condition.
