* 1st Continental Congress to meet
Page 2 contains numerous reports from the Charleston, South Carolina, including:
* ..The Northern Indians...have committed several hostilities in the back parts of Virginia..." and "...There will be a general meeting of the inhabitants of Georgia...on American grievances; every province upon this continent, except those under a military government, is now united in the common cause. The American petitions to King, Lords & commons, against the Boston Port Bill, etc. are universally applauded here..." and "...The measures pursuing by the British Ministry respecting the North American colonies are likely to occasion a very considerable reduction in the revenue..." with more (see), and perhaps most importantly: "...An evening paper says, 'The colonists of Virginia have sent seven Delegates on their behalf to the General Congress appointed to be held this month at Philadelphia; & amongst other instruction have given them the following: That in case they shall meet with any disturbance, interruption, or molestation during the congress, from General Gage or others, to repel force by force
The front page has a report from Savannah concerning trouble with Indians (see), and the back page has another report from Charleston which includes a report from Williamsburg which notes: "We do hereby resolve & declare that we will not after the 1st day of November next, import from Great Britain any goods, wares or merchandizes whatever (medicines excepted) nor will we after that day import any British manufactures..." with more (see).
Some very historic content in this issue. Complete in 8 pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, very nice condition.
