July 30, 1776
THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, July 30, 1776.

* Virginia votes to declare independence from England
* Great month and year to have
* From the enemy

The entire front page & a bit of page 2 are taken up with an interesting article:

* Reflections on the Most Proper Means of Reducing the Rebels, & what Ought to be the Consequence of our Success

Page 2 also includes a lengthy letter signed in type by: Guy Carleton, datelined from Montreal on June 20, 1776, with some great reading on the Revolutionary War (see photos for portions).

War news continues on page 3 with a letter from Newburyport and one from New London (see).

Another page has a terrific & historic report from Williamsburg, Virginia, which includes: "Resolved unanimously, that the Delegates appointed to represent this colony in General Congress be instructed to propose to that respectable body to declare the United Colonies free and Independent states..." with more, being a prelude to the actions in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776 (see).

Another war report is a letter from an officer in Peter Parker's fleet (see), and over one-third of the bkpg. has war-related content including reports from Williamsburg, and a letter signed by George Germaine (see).

Complete in 8 pages, minimal rubbing to the front page, measures 8 1/2 by 11 1/2 in., nice condition.

And great to have a newspaper dated July, 1776.
