Page 2 of this issue includes a rather lengthy article concerning yellow fever, reading in part: "A Jackson (Miss.) dispatch of the 14th says no new cases and no deaths from yellow fever had occured there within forty-eight hours. The Howard Association announced that they had ample means to meet all claims upon them, and that no more contributions for that locality were needed..." The article goes on to discuss the various outbreaks of the disease throughout much of the south.
