SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN New York September 9, 1876.

* Alexander Graham Bell
* Telephone invented (historic)

Within this 16 pg. issue is an historically significant article titled: "The Human Voice Transmitted by Telegraph", the full text of which can be seen in the photos, with portions including: "...Professor Graham Bell, by a device somewhat analogous, has succeeded in transmitting the tones f the human voice by telegraph...At the time of the lecture an experiment was made to show the transmission of articulate speech, an assistant going into the adjoining building where one of the telephones was placed...Professor Bell stated that telephonic effects can be produced with three varieties of currents..." with much more, concluding with an appropriate & understated sentence: "The practical exemplification of the lately discovered system of telephony made by the professor afforded much pleasure & information to those present." (see photos).
A very significant report and the first detailed account of Bell's telephone invention in this scientific publication.
This issue is filled with other scientific experiments & improvements of the day, but they pale in comparison to the telephone article.
Complete in 16 pgs., nice condition.
