THE CONNECTICUT COURANT, Hartford CT, February 11, 1788.
* United States Constitution
* Massachusetts& Georgia ratifies it
* 18th century original from America
The entire front page is taken up with reports from the: "Proceedings of the Convention of Massachusetts" on their debate of the Constitution. This text carries over to page 2.
Other page 2 items include: "...the Legislature of the state of New York (by a small majority) appointed a Convention to decide on the new Constitution..."
and also the historic:
* We have the pleasure to announce to the public that on Wednesday the 2d of January last the Convention of the State of Georgia unanimously ratified the Federal Constitution...
with more, continuing with: "The adoption of the proposed Federal Government by the State of Georgia...is a proof that another body of men...think under the same kind of government that the Federal Constitution should be adopted. Georgia is a very rising state..." with additional reports concerning Constitution discussions in South Carolina and New Hampshire (see photos).
Plus, page 3 has a great wealth of content concerning Massachusetts ratifying the Constitution with their list of Amendment needs & clarifications (see), with one of the reports headed: "Ratification of the FEDERAL CONSTITUTION by Massachusetts!" with the text, and followed by the printing of every name voting "Yea" and "Nay" (see photos for portions).
Four pages, never trimmed margins, some minor loss to an upper corner affects just one name in the "Nay" list, otherwise affecting blank margin only. Very minor loss at the blank spine also.
