NEW ORLEANS DAILY CRESCENT, Louisiana, April 18, 1861.

Truly Confederate newspapers from New Orleans are very difficult to find, as Admiral Farragut entered the mouth of the Mississippi in mid-April, 1862 and finally took New Orleans on April 28. Shortly thereafter Benjamin Butler moved in and took control of the city, it surrendering without a fight. So "Confederate" issues from New Orleans are limited to those published between Louisiana's secession from the Union on January 26, 1861 and the end of April, 1862, just a brief 15 month period.
The front page has a nice stack of one column headlines on the Civil War (see photos) but the best content is the lengthy front page article headed:
* First Day's Bombardment of Fort Sumter
* Full Particulars
which takes 1 1/4 columns with much detail.
The report begins: "At about 2 o'clock on the afternoon of Thursday General Beauregard made a demand on Major Anderson for the immediate surrender of Fort Sumter..." with much more (photos show only portions).
Complete in 8 pages, the 2nd leaf has a small ad clipped out (see) affecting only ads, a bit irregular at the spine from disbinding, scattered foxing.
This issue has a somewhat small clipping out of the 1st leaf (see photo) and some margin wear, otherwise good.. RARE !
