Page four of this issue includes a rather lengthy article concerning a boxing match, entitled: "Dan Donnelly, Champion of Ireland". Underneath can be found a short poem relating to the victor: "Great spirits of Broughton, Jem Belcher, and Figg, Of Corcoran, Pierce, and Dutch Sam, Ah, receive now, to join in your milling delight, The shade of Sir Daniel Donnelly, Knight."
Another article found within this issue and entitled: "Our Chess Department" includes a "problem of the week" and the answer to the previous weeks' problem.
Additional content includes articles on Baseball, Cricket, and Pigeon Shooting, accompanied by an illustration of Arthur B. Vance "the Celebrated Pigeon-Shooter".
This 16 page issue also includes some Civil War reports as well as other sports items, including horse racing. Although this issue is in nice condition, some small spots of dirtiness can be found on the front page, in addition to several tears throughout.
