HARPER'S BAZAR, from New York, dated May 30, 1868.
An early issue of this popular magazine which still publishes today, from the very first year of its existence. Women's fashions in the post-Civil War era took on the same flamboyant, decorative & frilly style as was popular in Victorian archecture at the time. This magazine offered the latest fashiions styles in vogue during 1868, and includes many prints of not just women's fashions but often the dress of children and men as well. The pages often included prints of needlepoint & embroidery, as well as literary articles which were illustrated also. The photos below show those pages with prints, many of which could be framed as each page had the date and "Harper's Bazar" at the top.
The front page features illustration of Miss Clara Louise Kellogg.
Complete in 16 pgs., generally in nice condition, and measuring about 11 by 15 3/4 inches.
