See the photo below for the very significant, yet quite inconspicuous, recording of the patent number to Alexander Graham Bell for "Telegraphy", with the patent number noted.
All patents issued were published as such in Scientific American, and here is the announcement of Bell getting the telephone patent! No related article or illustrations. Very significant.
