THE POST-BOY, London, June 20, 1724.
* Early Boston Massachusetts mention
* Ornate masthead
* Uncommon title from the early 18th century
The front page of this singlesheet has a report from Boston about a trial concerning the publication and sale of a book entitled: A Short and Easy Method with the Deists, &c. Says the Chief Justice charged the jury to present a copy of the book and that he questioned ...whether if the Town of Boston were laid in Ashes, it would be of worse Consequence to the Province, than the spreading of that Book would. He also charged them to present the publisher. Apparently they thought that the circulation of the book was a serious concern, and during the next two days they produced a copy of the book and the publisher. Concludes by stating that they ...found a Bill against John Checkley... for publishing the book.
Has two engravings in the masthead. In good condition.
