NEW YORK WEEKLY TRIBUNE, Jan. 5, 1850

* Puget Sound Described
* New Mormon Settlement in Utah

Pg. 7 contains a quite detailed article taking about two-thirds of a column headed: "OREGON--Puget's Sound and the Country Thereabout." which is a very descriptive article on that vicinity, including much on the Indians in the area (see photos). A very early report for that part of the country.

A pg. 4 item: "From the Far West--Treaty with the Pawnees--New Mormon Settlement" is a report from St. Louis which mentions: "...The party were not molested by the Indians on the route...The snow on the Plains was very deep...the military commandant at Fort Laramie has succeeded in concluding a treaty with the Pawnee Indians...A new colony of Mormons has been formed & they have made a settlement 250 miles south of Salt Lake City. Twenty five Mormon preachers crossed the Plains with Mr. Kinkhead. It is their intention to preach Mormonism over the whole world, & make new converts to Mormonism." (see photos).

Complete in 8 pages, very nice condition.
