THE SPORTING NEWS, St. Louis, April 16, 1947
* Jackie Robinson
* Joins Major League Baseball
The front page has an article headed: "Jackie Robinson Gets Chance With Flatbush Troupe" and subhead: "Likely to See Service Mostly as Pinch Runner". The article begins with: "Brooklyn, for the first time in its 72 years in the National League, will have a Negro player within its ranks this season..." with more (see photos). There is a ftpg. photo of Robinson, with the article carrying over to page 18.
You get the complete 48 pg. issue, some leaves a bit close-trimmed at the top, tears in the upper left corners are taped on some pages, small piece missing from the bottom left corner of the ftpg., small binding holes at the blank spine margin.
Great to have this very significant content in "The Baseball Paper Of The World" as proclaimed in the masthead.
