The first column of the front page has some historic headlines including: "Statehood's Star" "In the Abcendency & We Get There With Both Feet" "Everybody Laugh & Shout Over the Joyous Event Wherein the Nation's Congress Declared that Montana, Washington and the Two Dakotas Should be Joined to the Galaxy of States" with various text. President Cleveland made the announcement this day that these states are to be admitted to the union, to formally happen (for Montana) on November 8, 1889. Terrific report to have in a Montana newspaper! Complete in 4 pgs., minor loss at the spine does not come close to text, red ink stamp in the masthead, generally nice.
