Over two-thirds of pg. 2 are taken up with a terrific & very detailed description of the newly discovered lands & riches of the Far West, headed: "INTERESTING FROM THE PACIFIC", "Prolific Gold, Silver & Cinnabar Discoveries in California, Western Utah & Southern Oregon", "Description of Western Utah--Its Soil, Climate & Mineral Wealth--Washoe Valley & Mines--Washoe Ore--The Rush for the Mines--Carson City--St. Helena Cinnabar Mines", "History & Extend of the Discovery--Walker River & Mono Lake Mines--Gold Discovery in Southern Oregon & the Geology, Topography & Meteorology of the New Mining Districts". Among the pg. 10 first column heads are: "The Suppression Of Polygamy In Utah", "Remarks of Mr. Lamar Against the Mormon 'Institution' ". This discussion in Congress is rather lengthy, only portions of which are seen in the photos below. Complete as a 12 page issue, various printing creases throughout detract from readability but do not cause loss of text, otherwise in quite nice condition.
