THE PRESENT STATE OF EUROPE: OR THE HISTORICAL & POLITICAL MONTHLY MERCURY, London, February, 1700  A quite rare periodical title seldom offered with the content being just as the title suggests--news & political reports from all corners of Europe. Included under: "Advice from England" is an item noting: "...thereupon His Majesty had caused Proclamations to be prepared as well for commanding all Jesuits & Popish Priests forthwith to depart this Kingdom as for recalling home his Majesty's subjects now educating in Popish seminaries beyond seas..." and other related anti-Catholic items.
And save for just a single page of advertisements, all 34 pages are entirely taken up with news reports. Measures about 6 1/2 by 8 1/4 inches and in excellent condition.
