THE WORLD, London, Feb. 12, 1791 Page 3 contains a report reading:
"It
is with pleasure we can announce to the public the imprisonment in this
city of the thieves who lately stole Madam du Barre's jewels. They were
detected by offering to sale a small parcel of them, value about 7,000l
to a Mr. Simon, a Jew, for 1,500l which caused in him a suspicion of
their being obtained by some dishonest means..." with a bit more
(see photo). Mentions of Jews in such reports are relatively uncommon.
You get the complete 4 page issue, folio size, which is in nice
condition.
