NEW HAMPSHIRE PATRIOT & STATE GAZETTE, Concord, Aug. 9, 1849 A
minor report on pg. 3 says that the "companies of emigrants" who
reached Ft. Laramie were
"...generally well. Seventeen hundred wagons had passed the fort,
and five hundred more were nearby. The grass was good and buffalo
plenty. Ft. Laramie is 850 miles on the route towards Santa Fe..."
