LONDON CHRONICLE, England Oct. 3, 1772  On an inside pg. under America there is a report mentioning that in Surinam: " ...the Wild Negroes cut off two plantations, and killed two white men...and that it was...feared, unless succours soon arrive ...great damage would be done." A report from Charles-town, [Charleston], South Carolina, states: "The number of new Negroes imported here this Summer amounts to...3400, all which have been sold considerably higher than in any former year. Some of the cargoes brought upwards of 50 pounds sterling a head on average. Formerly new Negroes used to be estimated at 30 pounds sterling a head first cost to the Planter." Complete in 8 pages, measures about 8 by 11 inches.
