Rare MUSKOGEE Indian Oklahoma Territory Native American 1889 Original Newspaper

eBay Fixed Price Item # 393479648648

Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: OUR BROTHER IN RED, Muskogee, Indian Territory, Oct. 5, 1889  * Very rare publication This would become the state of Oklahoma in 1907. A quite uncommon title meant for the Indians in the territory. The motto in the masthead notes: "Christian Education the Hope of the Indian." This title is not noted in Gregory's "Union List of Newspapers", nor are any held by the American Antiquarian Society (although this date might be out of their scope of interest). This is the first of this title we have offered. Eight pages, many older tape mends along with more recent archival mends, partially rejoined at the spine, some loss at the margins of the central fold. Generally in "2nd rate" condition, yet a quite rare, scarce title.

Rare TOMBSTONE AZ Pima County Arizona 1886 Original Newspaper w/ O.K. CORRAL AD

eBay Fixed Price Item # 393394000857

Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: THE DAILY TOMBSTONE, Arizona, November 21, '86 (1886) * Gunfight at the O.K. Corral fame * Rare advertisement of the famed livery stable This may well be the consummate "Old West town" much romanticized in movies and television shows, perhaps most famous for the gunfight at the OK Corral involving Wyatt Earp and the Clanton gang. I would almost suggest that this title is more rare than the Epitaph as we have received far fewer issues of this title during the last 40 years. To add to the attractiveness of this issue from Tombstone is a back page advertisement for the "O.K. Corral". Various other news and ads of the day including: "County Treasurer Ritter reports that taxes are coming in better than in any year during h... See More

Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: WHITE PINE CONE, White Pine, Gunnison County, Colorado, Dec. 11, 1885 * Very rare Old West title * Ghost town - silver mining An interesting newspaper from a fascinating town which went through two boom & bust periods. White Pine began in 1880 as a fledgling mining camp just west of the Continental Divide, boomed in the mid-1880's then went bust by 1893. But in 1930 thru 1944 corporate mining resurrected in White Pine, only to go bust again in 1953, closing down the town for good. "Today only a few people live in White Pine during the summer. Only a creaking of the majestic pines and the aging cabins remind us today that a great mining camp once existed in the shadows of the Continental Divide." This issue is from t... See More
