May 24, 1916

EVENING TRIBUNE, San Diego, May 24, 1916

* Yellow Jacket Mine fire disaster
* Gold Hill, Comstock Lode fame
* Virginia City, Nevada

The front page has a nice banner headline: "4 PERISH AS FIRE SWEEPS MINE" with subhead: "75 LIVES IN PERIL; FLAMES ENDANGER BONANZA PROPERTY" (see) Nice for display. Some consider this to be the greatest and lengthiest battle in World history. Surprisingly this issue is in good condition being from the "wood pulp" era. Very hard to find issues that are not totally fragile from this era in paper.

Complete with 14 pages, a little irregular along the spine, small library stamp within the masthead, generally nice.
