THE BETHLEHEM TIMES, May 17, 1919
* NC-4 flying boat (historic aviation feat)
* Transatlantic flight (1st aircraft to achieve this)
The front page has a nice banner headline: "AMERICAN NAVAL SEAPLANE NC-4 UNDER LIEUT. COMMANDER READ, ATTAINS FIRST OBJECTIVE IN TRANS-ATLANTIC FLIGHT. LANDS SAFELY TODAY ON THE ISLAND OF FAYAL, AZORES" with subheads. (see) Nice for display. This event was very significant at the time, but was overshadowed just a few weeks later when Alcock & Brown made the first non-stop trans-Atlantic flight, and then of course the first non-stop solo flight by Lindbergh 8 years later.
Complete with 14 pages, light toning, a few small binding slits along the spine, generally nice.
