Nice letters on the Burr Conspiracy...

NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., May 8, 1807 Over one-third of the front page is taken up with various correspondences concerning the Burr Conspiracy.
In general, this was a treasonous effort, led by Aaron Burr with General James Wilkinson as a key partner, to create an independent country in the center of North America. President Jefferson ordered Burr arrested & indicted for treason.
This front page has a letter: "To His Excellency Gen. James Wilkinson" who was the previous governor of the Louisiana Territory, followed by his response signed: James Wilkinson. Then a letter from Wilkinson to Governor Claiborne at New Orleans which begins: "The undersigned citizens of the territory of Orleans offer you their congratulations on the arrest of Aaron Burr & the suppression of a conspiracy which had for its object the dismemberment of the union & the subversion of our government...". This is followed by his response signed: William Claiborne.
Four pages, nice condition.
