THE NEW YORK TIMES, sport's section only, November 9, 1947

* The Army-Notre Dame rivalry ends (1st report)
* NCAA college football - South Bend, Indiana

The front page of this section has a four column headline: "NOTRE DAME BEATS ARMY, 27-7" with subheads that include: "Irish Stage Drives" "Notre Dame, Expected to Pass, Batters Army With Ground Plays" and more with nice related photo. Lengthy coverage continues on page S3 with another large photo, stats and lineup. Too much text to photograph all.
Other sporting news of the day with much on other college football games. Complete sport's section only with 12 pages, rag edition in nice condition.

wikipedia notes: After meeting every year since 1919, Army decided to end the annual series after 1947 because they felt it was becoming too one-sided in favor of the Fighting Irish. The game was played in South Bend for the first time and the Fighting Irish prevailed, 27-7. Since then, there have been infrequent meetings over the past several decades, with Army's last win coming in 1958.
