October 05, 1863

DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, Oct. 5, 1863  A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. This is a single sheet newspaper as was typical at this time, as most of the paper mills were in the North.
The front page has many Civil War related article with news reports from the Confederates' perspective, including items headed: "From Northern Virginia' "From The Rappahannock" "From Chattanooga" "General Hood" which includes: "...when the false report of his death was circulated a pang shot through every loyal heard...may he live long to serve the country to whose cause he is so sincerely attached." and a bit more.
Also: "The Situation in Tennessee" "Flag Of Truce" "Letter From A Yankee Deserter". There is more reporting on the back page including a rather lengthy item headed: "Last Moments of the Late General John B. Floyd".
Single sheet, a small bit of staining, good condition.
