Most of the front page is taken up with the latest news on Trent Affair. This was a diplomatic incident that threatened a war between the United States and the United Kingdom. The U.S. Navy illegally captured two Confederate diplomats from the British ship Trent. England protested vigorously. The United States ended the incident by releasing the diplomats.
