THE AMERICAN SOLDIER, Manila, Philippine Islands, Dec. 25, 1898

* Rare publication during
* Philippine-American War

In the masthead is: "The First American Paper in Manila". A rare title published during the Philippine-American War, or the Philippine War for Independence. This is the volume 1, number 16 issue, and is the: "Christmas Number" as well. Also in the masthead: "A Diary of the Eighth Army Corps" as well as: "A Soldier's Paper for the Soldiers".
Eight pages, never bound nor trimmed, minor wear, mostly at the margins. It is printed on somewhat coated newsprint of nice quality so not the slightest bit of pulpishness nor any foxing.
