* Debating the Louisiana Purchase

Pg. 2 has a list of 4th of July toasts, including to: "Alexander Hamilton, and the Constitution".
Page 3 has an interesting letter criticizing the purchase of the Louisiana Territory, noting: "When the news was first announced that Louisiana had been ceded to the United States...declared that th intelligence had arisen from ignorance..." with some detail on the reason, including: "The U.S. stand in no present need of the immense countries of Louisiana. It would be injurious to our prosperity to possess Louisiana in full sovereignty...it would diminish the price of our lands...it would diminish & disperse our population..." and much more.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 10 3/4 inches, nice condition.
