April 03, 1873

NEW YORK HERALD, April 3, 1873

* Wreck of the RMS Atlantic
* Ocean Steamer
* North American coast

Great reporting on the sinking of the ship Atlantic, with page 5 having most of the first column taken up with related heads: "ATLANTIC" "The Wreck of the White Star Steamer on Meagher's Rock" "Lost & Saved" "560 Lives Lost Out of 978" "418 Souls Rescued" "The Calamity" "Awful Scenes When the Vessel Struck" and much, much more. Also a map headed: "Scene Of The Disaster".
Additional reports and column heads are on pages 6, 8 & 9. Page 12 has a lengthy list of the passengers.
At the time it was the deadliest civilian maritime disaster in the North Atlantic.
Twelve pages, a bit irregular at the spine, good condition.
