April 23, 1882

THE TOMBSTONE DAILY NUGGET, Tombstone, Pima County, Arizona, April 23, 1882

* Gunfight at the O.K. Corral fame
* The James Gang mention

This may well be the consummate "Old West town" much romanticized in movies and television shows, perhaps most famous for the gunfight at the OK Corral involving Wyatt Earp and the Clanton gang.
This rare issue was printed six months after this famous gunfight and is replete with advertisements with a distinctively Western theme. Has all ads on the front page, including:  "The Palace Hotel" and "The Oriental Saloon" among many others inside as well.
  Page 2 has a column with heads: "More Bloody Work by the Indians" "A Running Fight With the Murdering Wretches" "The Indian Troubles" "Bloody Trail of the Redskins" "Crimes & Casualties - Particulars of the Texas Train Robbery with a subhead: "Frank James on the War-Path" which mentions: "...that Frank James is at the head of a movement which has for its aim the extermination of all the parties whose names are associated with the death of his brother." Another subhead: "The Ford Boys Again Arrested" is an item from Ste. Joseph noting in part: "...the Governor's pardon for the Ford boys has not yet arrived. They are still in jail...served warrants on Robert & Charles Ford for complicity in the murder of Woodhite, one of the James gang...".
A rare opportunity for this famous title from this famous Old West town. Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, some minor & discrete archival mends near margins, minor margin tears, generally nice condition.
