THE WEEKLY MAGAZINE OR EDINBURGH AMUSEMENT, Scotland, Oct. 12, 1775 Certainly the most interesting item in this issue is the quite rare foldout plate which is a chart of: "Eight Hundred and Seventy Exact DISTANCES of the most Noted TOWNS, FORTS, etc. in NORTH AMERICA...". This plate folds out to 7 3/4 by 8 1/2 inches and is in great condition.
Taking over 2 pages is an article: "Preliminary Discourse of a Very Ingenious French Book entitled, Philosophical Inquires Concerning the Americans...". And near the back is a letter from South Carolina noting in part: "...No stone has been left unturned by administration & by their creatures to disunite us poor distressed Americans...every humane breast must be filled with horror at the bare recital, indignation against our common enemies--enemies to the king & to the welfare of the British realm..." and more.
Then a letter from New York taking over a full page & noting: "...is very little reason to expect a speedy reconciliation between the colonies & the mother country..." with much more fine reading.
